Insulation + Deck

Last week it snowed in Austin... craziness! This didn't stop my super team, though. Last week they completed all the insulation in my house and framed out my side and back decks.

So it begins...
This is what the insulation looks like. Very neat process and very tidy. Apparently the inspector was impressed - seems to be a trend via my awesome contractors! This means my house is all sealed in and insulated.

Then comes the spray foam! In another life, I want to be a spray foam applicator person. Fun!!!
Here is the deck in the middle of the house. I'm so excited about it... it's perfectly shaded and hidden from the street... and the spece looks so much bigger with an elevated surface now. My architect Richard = very very smart.
Here's Joe inspecting the back deck. There will eventually be stairs where he is standing.
So.... last week was a productive week, despite crazy weather and an equally crazy homeowner.

Paint

So, here are the colors. I like them all on their own. I like them all side by side. I just don't like them side by side on my house the way they are. Oh well, easy enough to change. It looks like a real house now, though!
I am digging the columns though. Once the porch + front steps + walkway is finished, it's going to look really awesome. I've always wanted columns like these, so I'm happy.
Eventually I will get a wood door, and the stain on the gables will match the door... and that will look awesome.
In other news, I went to Four Hands yesterday for their bi-annual sale. Bought a coffee table and a couch on a whim (with Mike's approval, luckily!) They were both awesome deals, and buying them made me feel better. Yay.

House Colors...

So, today was my first "Oh No" moment of this whole houseexperience.

My house is painted.

Trim + Stucco + Main.

And I don't like it. :(

Pieces of My Old House...

Terry Powell is a genius, and I'm happy to present some of the artwork he's making from my old house. So. Stinking. Cool. :)

Roof! Roof! Roof!

We finally had some a repreive from the rain in ATX, which meant they could finally do more outdoor work on my house. Step one: a roof! Step two: paint the trim! Step three: finish the stucco! And now I present... the first warmish sunny day we've had in weeks... and my house which is coming along quite nicely!

And here's a peak to everything inside, including a big stack of flooring. This is taken in the living room looking through the kitchen, bathroom into the master bedroom in the back. The house is *almost* sealed in, save for a window in my master bath.
So this week is finalizing inspections, finishing the painting, putting down my front porch, and lots of other stuff that I am clueless about. Good stuff, though. I'm still as happy as can be with Kevin & Nick, and I still believe that my architect Richard is a genius.

Fingers crossed for dry days this week!
