And she's mine!

Hard to believe that I am a homeowner again! Over the past 18 months, I've grown to love my neighborhood so much. It's within half a mile of downtown and the trail... so close to everything, and vibrant with culture and character.

Ben (my fabulous agent/friend) has been a blessing as I've searched for the perfect house to buy. We also have had many discussions about how the right thing will happen when it's meant to happen. Well, as it turns out, this was meant to happen just a week after I returned from Ironman. We saw this place on June 29th, put the offer down on the 30th, won against the other contract, and by July 23rd - she was mine!

So... the details:
  • This house was built in 1900. Yes, that is 109 years ago. And you can tell!
  • It is about 1,100 square feet (3 bedroom, 1 bathroom) but the original house is only about 600 square feet. It was not built with a bathroom, so the bathroom is an add one which is pretty much falling down.
  • In order to make this house livable, I will be either remodeling it or demo'ing it and starting from scratch!
  • I picked out my architect - he's done a number of homes in this neighborhood. I'm very excited to see what he comes up with.
  • But first things first, I need to figure out where to start... that should come once I hear back from the City Historical Commission about whether or not I need to save parts of her.
I will do my best to keep this updated with pictures and details. This is going to be one awesome journey!
